Development, production and delivery of specialised electronic software and few hardware for the control, data acquisition and monitoring of the accelerators. All these components need full software integration into the FAIR accelerator control system. Further, the services include upgrade of already existing operational systems. The services are expected to be delivered within a period of 24 months. For the construction of the first facility section of FAIR, special hardware and electronic components are required on the one hand, as well as support services for software integration into the accelerator's control system and beam diagnostic system. The hardware and software integration serves to ensure compatibility with the very complex and specific control system standards of the FAIR accelerator and is a main component of the scope of delivery. This includes the extension or development of so-called FESA classes with integrated LSA data supply by the accelerator control system as well as the connection to the campus-wide timing system based on a white-rabbit real-time network. In this context, special electronic and mechanical components are to be supplied, as well as programming and support services

  • Price: Consideration of the price through the valuation method "Preis-Quotient-Methode"

  • Technical Concept

    • Great care has to be taken that all proposed deliveries, i.e. devices and services, match exactly to the requirements as given in the technical specifications. Full coverage of all physical and logical interfaces has to be clearly demonstrated by the provider. Bidders have to describe their technical concept in such detail that it becomes doubtlessly demonstrated how the proposed solution will contribute to the fulfillment of the specification. It must also be described how the execution of joint development work for software, interfaces and integration is intended. It should be recognizable how many and which resources are provided for the real-ization of the project. Especially emphasized should be,
    • a) if the proposed hardware solution passes the requirements for long term op-eration (10 month per year over 15-20 years lifetime).
    • b) if good coordination methods apply for the interaction and collaboration be-tween the system core maintainers of the accelerator control system and beam instrumentation software application specialists
    • c) the availability and planned use of resources with understanding of the under-lying accelerator physics, mathematical calculation methods (SVD, single value decomposition) and FPGA programming skills.
    • d) the availability and planned use of resources with good technical understand-ing of the mode of operation of accelerator components and their technical char-acteristics, e.g., linear accelerator RF systems, pulsed power systems, ion source components, etc.
    • The required documents are evaluated in terms of their level of detail, com-pleteness, comprehensiveness and relevance. A presentation that is well-written, coherent, and well-founded, and that reveals a concept that suggests good and efficient task performance, will be evaluated positively.
  • Quality Assurance

    • The quality assurance measures in general and the testing processes in the spe-cific production sequence are to be described. This also includes the description of early error detection mechanisms, as well as the recording of the specifications in the production process. It should become apparent how the measures con-tribute to the fulfillment of the specifications and how the technical characteris-tics are controlled and recorded.
    • Besides completeness and level of detail it will be evaluated whether the de-scribed QA methods can detect errors at an early stage, limit them and elimi-nate them efficiently. The planned documentation of the tests is also included in the evaluation.
  • Delivery Schedule: Bidders shall submit their own delivery schedule with reference to the targeted contract period and with statements on the deliverability of the required work packages and components. It is particularly important to the client that the bidder specifies a reliable production and delivery time that is comprehensible to the client. A detailed description of the project planning will be evaluated positive-ly. The completeness and plausibility of the information provided will be evalu-ated.
