SECURITY AWARE POSITION, VELOCITY AND TIME INTEGRITY CONCEPT - EXPRO+

ObjectivesTo develop an integrity concept leveraging Position, Velocity and Time (PVT) assurance solutions for safety critical applications.DescriptionSafety critical applications rely on integrity concepts based on protection levels and alerting schemes to bound the position error in nominal and failure scenarios under a given integrity risk. This allows estimating the worst-case user position systematically taking into account potential feared events. Similar integrity concepts and list of feared events can be developed considering the potential presence of intentional GNSS signal impairments.The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) providers are implementing mechanism in order to protect the users from security threats such as spoofing. For instance, Galileo will provide both navigation message authentication (NMA) and ranging authentication (Commercial Service Authentication [CAS]). Therefore, the user integrity concepts will have to be expanded to define the impact of intentional interference, to specify the related feared events, and to consider the barriers provided by PVT assurance solutions.This activity aims at exploring technological enablers, algorithms and concepts for future positioning integrity concepts, which would enable safe and secure operations even in the presence of potential intentional impairments. It will investigate the contribution to the overall safety and trustworthiness provided by GNSS-based PVT assurance. Moreover, attention will be given to demonstrating that the overall target integrity can be achieved by different positioning solutions and PVT assurance techniques.This activity encompasses the following tasks:- State-of-the-art survey of integrity concepts for PVT, of PVT assurance services, and of anti-spoofing techniques,- Development of innovative security-aware concepts,- Performance assessment of the integrity concepts,- Roadmap for standardization.DeliverablesReport, Software
