Objective: To design and assess the life cycle of an optimised harness including cables, connectors, and back-shell components, allmanufactured using eco-friendly processes and alternative materials.Description: Spacecraft harnesses are essential for power distribution, data transmission, and signal integrity within satellites and other spacecraft systems. However, conventional harness designs rely on materials and manufacturing techniques that have a significant environmental impact, such as PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)-based insulation, gold and nickel plating, and energy-intensive production processes. The ecodesign harness initiative focuses on the development of a sustainable harness architecture, incorporating alternative materials and environmentally optimised production methods. This includes innovative approaches to conductors, insulation, jacket, connectors, accessories, tie bases, assembly processes and integration, all tailored for space qualification. This activity aims to minimise environmental impact while maintaining space-grade reliability and performance, contributing to the broader vision of sustainable space through responsible material selection, reduced emissions, and improved end-of-life strategies. A comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) will be performed to comparethe environmental impacts of the optimised harness against conventional designs, from raw material extraction through to end-of-life,including phases such as manufacturing, integration, launch, and decommissioning. This activity encompasses the following tasks: - Trade-off analysis and environmental impact assessment. - Key environmental contributors identification. - Optimisation actions and technical feasibility. - Characterisation and LCA validation.Deliverables: Breadboard, ReportProcurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl.
